Dead Like Me

On wednesday I hit eleven weeks. I have no problems at all with this pregnancy, except for the fact that I AM SO GODDAMN TIRED! It’s crazy. I can’t remember the last time I showered, my eyebrows have turned into forrests due to a lack of plucking and I’ve been meaning to vacuum the bedroom for oh.. a week and a half now, but I just can’t put myself around to do it. I’m dirty, smelly and lazy and it’s a miracle that M. still wants to sleep in the same bed as me. I’m digusted by myself. On the other hand I somehow do find the energy to beat him every single time when playing Trivial Pursuit, our new favorite activity before I pass out in the evening. I sleep from 9pm to 9am at least and then I continue to lounge in bed with Dixie to about 11.30. Pure madness! All I can do is pray that in a week or two I turn back to my old energy level.

Dear God..

Please make me stop eating from this enormous bag filled with candy laying next to me. Don’t make me skip dinner for the second night in a row because I had too much of all this delicious sugary goodness.

What’s this?

Yes, it’s true. I’m pregnant. The cat is finally out of the bag and I can speak freely.
This picture is from my first ultrasound last Wednesday, when I was exactly 9 weeks along. I know some people keep their pregnancy a secret for the first three months, but I’m horrible at keeping secrets so here it is. M. and I are thrilled and now that our families have had some time to get used to it, they’re very happy as well.

Ultrasound of our Baby :D

Can you believe how fast everything is going for me? Six months ago I was convinced I’d be a lonely old hermit one day and now I’m living with my prince Charming (haha!) and am the adoptive mommy to a bunny and a kitty with a human baby on the way. I would have laughed in the face of anyone who’d fortold me this could ever happen.

I also have some better pictures of Dixie to share now, here and here. She loves lounging in bed with me in the morning, which is where I took these.

Presenting Dixie

Dixie the Cat

Lookie! It’s Dixie! I had made some pictures with my digicam to upload once I got to my parents house where my computer is still at. But I had to do some other things first over there and before I knew it the afternoon was coming to an end and I had to go home. I never got the chance to even switch the pc on, let alone upload anything. So for now this is the only glimpse of her that I have to share. It was taken by my boyfriend with his cellphone.

First time posting through Flickr! Fingers crossed!

Caturday?

No picture of a cat today, but I did celebrate Caturday to the max! M. could no longer resist my charms/whining and today we got a cat! We initially wanted a cat named Dexter that was in the shelter in Vlaardingen, but it turned out that he was only adoptable by people who had a garden. So that was a no-go. I would have gladly taken any other cat available, but M. is quite particular and didn’t see another one that he liked as much. So we drove over to the shelter in Schiedam where we were introduced to a cat named.. Kitty! A very cute, shy girl. She’s a grey tabby mixed with white.
She used to live with an older lady who had to move to a retirement home where she wasn’t allowed. Because she lived with an older lady she isn’t used to noise and she is very shy. Right now she’s sleeping in the bookcase in the study, where we put her when we got home this afternoon. It’s been five hours and she still hasn’t start exploring the rest of the house. But she’s been very cute to us, she even jumped on my lap earlier. She just needs a lot of encouragement. I’m sure in a day or two, she will feel right at home with us and Elmo.

Edit: Oh! I totally forgot to mention: We’ve renamed her Dixie, because there already is a Kitty in our family, of course!

Week Three

This is the third week of M. and I sharing a house. So far we have had zero fights, I have yet to prepare a meal for the both of us, I’ve learned how to operate the oven and he still tells me he loves me. I’m spending every morning in bed with the laptop, which is such a relaxed way to start the day. I’m quite happy. The only downer is that I have to bike and extra mile to work and back home again.
I’m trying to convince M. to get a cat. I’m not sure if adding a cat to our life would be a smart thing to do. I mean, this appartment went from a home of one person to a home of a person and a bunny to a home of two persons and a bunny within three months. We’re all still adjusting. Part of me hopes M. puts off the cat thing for a while, while the other part is browsing the website of the local shelter, ready to pick one up on the way home from work tonight.

I hope it doesn’t hatch…
